Author note

Anne Fine was the second Children's Laureate in 2001-2003 and has won the Smarties Book Prize, the Guardian Children's Fiction Award, the Whitbread Award (twice) and the Carnegie Medal (twice), and has twice been voted Children's Author of the Year.
