Performing agency and the poetic witness

Performing agency and the poetic witness

Alexander, Lisa

The thesis explores embodied, documentary modes of poetic witness, examining how specific forms of performance, writing and participatory practice frame the operation of agency by staging the subjectivity of the witness in place and time. The thesis considers the construction of witness with reference to the relational narrativity of the moment and its potential to transpose the colonisation of language, the body and the imaginary by phallogocentric and globalised systems
