Copy: Leeds Central Library item LD35450274 is shelved with the (William) Riley Collection of items donated in July 2017 by Ann van de Kasteele, wife of the late Dr. John Lawson Riley, nephew of the author William Riley (who was born in Laisterdyke, Bradford). Although not part of the main Riley Collection, this item was actually donated by the author himself ca. 1927 and is the manuscript copy of his first novel, Windyridge. Contains notes by the author regarding his dealings with the publisher Herbert Jenkins, detailing the progress of the contract as well as recording comments made by the publisher regarding his ability as an author. Has bookplate of City of Leeds Public Libraries with 'Presented by W. Riley, Esq.' (W. Riley, Esq written by hand). Gold leaf along top edge of pages.
