    The Kate Greenaway Book Award is now in its 61st year. It is the only British literary award that annually recognises "distinguished illustration in a book for children". The Medal is named after the 19th-century English illustrator of children's books Kate Greenaway (1846–1901). Unlike most awards, the Medal is judged by a panel of expert librarians and is known as the awards that children’s book illustrators say they most want to win.

    The Carnegie Book Award is now in its 81st year. The UK's oldest and most prestigious book award for children's writing annually recognises one outstanding new book for children or young adults. The Medal is named after the Scottish-born American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835–1919), who founded more than 2800 libraries in the English-speaking world, including at least one in more than half of British library authorities, including four in Lancashire. Unlike most awards, the Medal is judged by a panel of expert librarians and is known as the award that children’s book authors say they most want to win.

The Medal is named after the 19th-century English illustrator of children's books Kate Greenaway (1846–1901). Unlike most awards, the Medal is judged by a panel of expert librarians and is known as the awards that children’s book illustrators say they most want to win. The shortlist will be announced on Thursday 16th March, with the winner being announced on Monday 19th June at a special daytime event at RIBA in central London. The winner will receive £500 worth of books to donate to their local library, a specially commissioned golden medal and a £5,000 Colin Mears Award cash prize.
