London's boroughs at 50

London's boroughs at 50

Travers, Tony, author

2015 sees the 50th anniversary of the London boroughs, the 32 subdivisions of Greater London laid out to facilitate public services. This book commemorates half a century of momentous and wide-ranging changes to the governance of Britain's largest city and includes some explanatory history as to why London's government is so fragmented, along with a section on each borough. It also provides an analysis of how London has changed in that time, going from 'swinging' London to 'global' London, and looks at some of the colourful personalities who have led or had an impact on its boroughs along the way
