RECOMMENDED FOR THE LUX COLLECTION BY KIMBERLEY O'NEILL. "Rose Lowder is an inspirational figure; she is an experimental filmmaker, a supporter of organic farms, an editor of New Wave French cinema and an educator. When I saw pages from Lowder’s Bouquets 11 - 20 Notebooks it was invigorating to see a ’behind the scenes’ of her practice. The intensity recorded on the pages here mirror the intensity she brings to the multiplicities of her life. The notebooks are a record she has created for herself, but some of the drawings also act as posthumous storyboards and functional diagrams on her filmmaking processes. Drawing and filmmaking are bound together for me. Filmmaking can happen over protracted and frustratingly disjointed periods of time (e.g. a pause in activity whilst film is processed in a lab) and in these situations a drawing can provide a mainline connection back to the ideas and instincts at the foundations of a work."
