A commission - developed from a three-month residency with Deveron Arts in Huntly - exploring the changing dynamic of the family unit as more & more men from that village worked on off-shore or away from the home. The project featured performative research projects such as the Male Roll Model and It takes a Village, as well as community projects such as Rent-a-Dad" and Welcome Home. The commission intended to encourage conversations about the topic of fatherhood and what their role is in contemporary society The project culminated a publication "What Use Is A Father?" and a day-long event for the village titled "A Perfect Father Day?" which featured a variety of events designed to question the nature of fatherhood including a 'Dad's Zone' (no women or children allowed!) by Catrin Jeans, Designated Dad's for families without fathers, games exploring masculinity, a pub-chat led by social scientists, film screenings and parades of "Dadness."
